Ribas Hotels Group supported by the USAID Competitive Economy of Ukraine program is implementing the All-Ukrainian Ribas School of Hospitality project. This is a nationwide program that will create employment opportunities for HoReCa employees and unemployed workers in Ukraine through job training and retraining.
One of the issues related to human capital in Ukraine, is staff shortage, i.e. lack of qualified personnel. There are increasingly more offers on the labor market, and in September 2023 Work.ua reported record 105,809 job vacancies. In October 2023, more new job openings were posted in the Industrial Worker job category.
The main reasons for difficulties in filling vacancies are the consequences of the war, migration abroad, men's service in the AFU, lack of qualified specialists, the need to retrain displaced residents , a decrease in the number of responses to vacancies, an increase in demand for remote work, and difficulties in employing people with disabilities. In August 2023, competition among job seekers decreased by 9%.
A shortage of employees slows down the development of companies and the economy. The All-Ukrainian Ribas School of Hospitality educational project can address this issue through training and retraining, creating employment opportunities for HoReCa specialists.
The project will last 10 months to provide employment for more than 300 people in the HoReCa sector. Two training centers, in Odessa and Bukovel, will be launched for trainees. The registration is scheduled to start on August 1. The link to registration will be available on the resources of Ribas Hotels Group.
Training programs within the grant activities will address the issues below:
- Provide retraining for private and public sector workers who have lost their jobs because of the war and for people seeking to move into a new industry or adjust their skills to new market conditions, including internally displaced persons;
- Promote the employment of employees who have completed training or upgraded their skills;
- Become a pilot training program that will be available for continuing professional development for hospitality staff at the nationwide level;
- Have a positive effect on addressing the issue of staff shortage in the hospitality industry.
No similar national-level training course has ever been offered in Ukraine before. Training at our School of Hospitality provides you with hands-on skills within the Ribas Hotels Group hotel chain and other partners. This will ensure that candidates have all the relevant knowledge to be employed by any company in the market.
